We use a blog as a sort of notice board and resource centre for our trainees as well. I set it up with the intention that evey member of staff would have access, but yep some do and some don't.

I enjoyed your commentary on adult blogging, I to am trying to engage my staff with a blogsite. It is interesting because I am getting some real interest and of course some that won't even open the site. Time will tell how successful the staff will use the staff blogsite but I will keep trying. I believe we need to spread the positive social learning capabilities will our teachers.

Charging for printouts is possible I suppose, but I can see it being a real bone of contention. Most of our learners are unemployed adults being funded through, and would be most indignant at being expected to pay.

Current state of play is that we've acquired a new colour laser printer for little more than the cost of toner for the old one! Clearly is is mildly ludicrous and far from "green" but I'll take whatever I can get!

Is it possible to charge a lab fee? I agree that there's something very affirming about seeing your work large and in color and in real life. Of course, it's at the cost not only of the toner but also the tree used to make the paper. Could the students help bear that cost, if they opt to print?

Looks nice, but I couldn't get the "Try without and Account" to work so haven't had a proper look.

(And I'll never get Der Management to pay for something just for a "try it and see if it helps" project like this one!)

Here is another really good collaborative web-based mind mapping tool that might be worth looking giving a try as a planning tool comapping.com.
